big companies want YOUR data privacy is dead, greedy companies killed it for "safety"
The problem
big companies want YOUR data, what better way to get it than getting governments to force you to share it by claiming its for "child safety". When all it actualy is, is that they want your data to make ads more personalized by forcing you to connect all your online accounts to one identity, your face or ID
but what about anyone that cant/doesnt want to share that data? are we stuck? forced into practicaly living under a rock by OS LEVEL AGE VERIFICATION?
Os level has its own problems too, OSes that can not afford giant data centers, servers, embedded oses, devices that will never connect to the internet, do i need to "verify my age" to use my ti-84, what if i make my own OS, what happens then?
what about pepole that do not want to be known by their "official identity"? people that are trans? people that are fleeing dangerous situations? people that are avoiding stalkers?
this could easly be used to silence already opressed groups, push regional political ideals, let "the undesirables" be tracked, track people involved in protests, connect IRL people's connections and friendships with who they interact with irl, track your EVERY move

what about what happens to my data AFTER I verify?
is it stored? it probably is, its what they actualy want. is it sold? probably, companies want more money.
ID photos? probably saved and sold.
what if theres a data breach? guess what now your data is prob on the dark web INCLUDING YOUR ID.
identity theifts will probably become real common in the near future now
The solution
move to linux while you can(choose a distro that isnt planning to implement it), use a degoogled version of android or use mobile linux, use decenteralized social media - mastodon, matrix, lemmy, fluxer(not fedderated/decenteralized YET), IRC. support small companies (resonite > VRC). use alternate search engines instead of google (SearXNG, duck duck go).
try using a mclovin id for age verification. use TOR when you are interacting with contravertial media(LGBTQ+ topics, protests, ANYTHING political)
dont give big companies your money and data just to watch shows and movies, "its nice sailing on the high seas"
